In My Words

Wondering What Therapy with Me Is Like?

Why I Became a Therapist

When my father was dying, a therapy team supported my family as we prepared for his loss. The way they showed up for us during such a difficult time stayed with me.

What My Sessions Are Like

I'm warm and personable, but I'm also direct. Therapy doesn't have to feel overly formal or clinical. There can be difficult conversations, quiet moments and even humour when it fits. My job isn't to tell you how to live your life — it's to get to know you well enough that we can figure out what will actually help.

“I just love creating an environment for people to thrive in, whatever that looks like.”

Reasons People Reach Out to Me

Most of my clients are going through one of their worst days, or one of the worst stretches of their life. Sometimes everyone around them has turned away from what they're going through. It's a privilege to be the person who can be there without judgment.

Grief, loss and bereavement

Someone is gone and the world expects you to have moved on by now.

Hospice and end-of-life

Anticipating a loss, or sitting with one that is already underway.

Caregiver exhaustion

Holding everything together for someone else, with nothing left for yourself.

Trauma and hardship

Something happened, and it is still setting the terms of your daily life.

Mental health concerns

Anxiety, low mood, or a stretch where nothing feels manageable.

Major life transitions

A new role, a big change, or working out who you are inside it.

Emotional overwhelm

Too much at once, and no clear place to put any of it down.

Boundary setting

Saying no without the guilt that usually follows it.

Rebuilding after hardship

Starting again after something took the ground out from under you.

Not on this list? Reach out anyway. If I'm not the right fit, I'll help you find someone who is.

How I Work

The work happens
in the relationship,
not the method

Being with clients in person is the true meaning of the work for me. I pride myself in being personable, open and honest, and in being a conduit for change. The room gets built around your strengths, not around a method.

My Therapeutic Modalities

Master of Social Work, 2019. Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW.

Who You’d Be Sitting With

A Little More About Me

Outside of therapy I’m into hockey, cooking, being out in nature and cottage weekends. I stargaze in Bancroft whenever I get the chance.

Most of my time goes to my wife, my nieces, family and friends. I also have a serious sweet tooth, and tiramisu wins every time.

“I love recharging with family and friends. I’m authentic. When you sit down with me, you’ll know.”

An Invitation from Sean

Healing Is Not a Quick Fix

People sometimes come to therapy hoping to fix one part of themselves — their thoughts, emotions, relationships or reactions. But healing is often much more connected than that.
