A place to begin
Care that meets you where you are.
Dragonfly Counselling & Wellness is a group practice in Brantford, Ontario, offering in-person and virtual counselling across Ontario.
We created Dragonfly to feel different from clinical spaces where people can feel like a diagnosis, a file, or the next appointment on a schedule. Here, we believe meaningful therapy begins with feeling seen, understood, and genuinely connected to the person sitting across from you.
Our work is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive — but above all, it is human.
Healing begins with compassion. That belief is the foundation of everything we do.
Where the dragonfly comes from
Born from love, loss, and the courage to heal.
“Because healing isn't the absence of pain; it's finding your way through it.”
This practice was born from lived experience. Losing my loved one was one of the most profound and disorienting experiences of my life. It cracked me wide open, leaving me feeling raw, exposed, undone. For a while, everything hurt.
But in the wreckage, I found something I didn't expect: the capacity to grow.
Grief taught me to live with intention. To value connection over convenience. To choose courage, even when it's uncomfortable. That experience is woven into everything we do here. This journey has shaped who I am today, and for that, in all its weight and all its grace, I am grateful.
That understanding is one of the reasons the dragonfly became such a meaningful symbol to me. Dragonflies have long symbolized resilience and transformation. They remind us that we can move through the hardest seasons of life without losing who we are.
For me, they also carry something more personal: the quiet comfort that the people we've loved and lost are never truly far away.
This practice was born from lived experience, but it has grown into a space for much more than grief. It is here for individuals, couples, children, families, and communities moving through life's hardest seasons, whether that means trauma, emotional overwhelm, relationship struggles, identity, healing, or change.
With gratitude,
Jenny
What it's actually like to work with us
You don't have to arrive with all the answers.
We know reaching out can be the hardest part. You don't need to know exactly what kind of therapy you need or have the right words for what you're experiencing.
We start by listening. We'll learn a little about what brings you here, what matters to you, and what you're hoping might change. From there, we'll help connect you with a therapist whose experience, approach, and personality feel like a good fit.
Therapy here isn't about performing, explaining yourself perfectly, or fitting into a predetermined box. It's a relationship — and we'll meet you where you are.
What we believe
The values behind our work.
Human connection matters.
Therapy is a relationship before it is a technique. We show up with warmth, curiosity, and genuine care.
Culture is context.
Identity, culture, community, history, and lived experience shape how we understand ourselves and the world. We honour that.
Safety, choice, and trust matter.
Our work is grounded in trauma-informed care, choice, collaboration, and respect.
Growth is possible.
We believe people carry the capacity for resilience, healing, and meaningful change — even when they can't see it yet.
Community matters.
Mental health doesn't exist in isolation. We value relationships with the communities, organizations, and professionals we work alongside.
