In My Words

Wondering What Therapy with Me Is Like?

Why I Became a Therapist

Growing up, I struggled with a stutter and a learning disorder. At the time, there wasn't the same awareness or understanding of learning differences that there is today.

What to Expect in Your First Few Sessions

Casual conversation. I just want to get to know you, and I want you to get to know me. Why are we here? Who are you? Who am I? Usually the first appointment is straight rapport building.

What I hope you'll feel is not only comfortable and heard, but that your voice is welcome in the space.

I really want you to feel not only comfortable and heard, but that your voice is welcome in the space.

Reasons People Reach Out to Me

If something on this list sounds like what you're carrying, that's a good place to start the conversation.

ADHD & Executive Functioning

Knowing what to do and still not being able to start.

Self-Esteem & Identity

Quieting the running commentary you'd never use on anyone else.

Food & Body Image

Building a different relationship with food, your body and yourself.

Children & Teens

A space where young people don't have to talk like adults to be understood.

Caregiver & Parent Overwhelm

Caring for everyone else with little left for yourself.

Frontline Worker Stress

Carrying the weight of the work long after the shift ends.

I also work with people who are reconsidering patterns that may no longer be working for them.

How I Work

You Can Start Exactly Where You Are

You don't need the right words, a perfect goal, or a plan for how therapy is supposed to go.

We can start with what's happening now, figure out what matters to you, and adjust along the way.

Come as you are. We'll take it from there.

Who You’d Be Sitting With

A Little More About Me

My husband and I spend a lot of time caring for our older home and large garden, which includes roses, poppies, trilliums and a Japanese maple. I’m an avid reader, I’m obsessed with my dog, and I play The Sims.

“I am a baker. I bake. It’s a huge joy and I’m very good at it!”

An Invitation from Kate

Healing Isn't a Straight Line

As much as we might want healing to be linear, it rarely is.

There are curves, ups and downs, and sometimes a few loop-de-loops along the way.
